Advanced Tips

In Heian period, tales were mainly written in hiragana. There were many words that were quite different from modern words.

Stories in the Edo period were often written in hiragana as well. The words became similar to modern ones.

In the Meiji period, the words were almost the same as the modern ones, but, in my impression, it is likely that there was more kanji even in the stories.
